Content and Schedule
In this series of lectures, we introduce parallel-in-time (PinT) computation which is a new research area and growing very fast in recent years. We will present a short historical and background introduction on PinT computation, followed by 4-5 widely used PinT methods, such as the methods based on multiple shooting, domain decomposition based methods, time multigrid methods and direct PinT methods, etc. This is a two-people cooperative course: for each of these methods, Professor Martin J. Gander explains the main idea and the most important results, and then the second instructor Shu-Lin Wu provides more details to help understanding, such as illustrating codes, applications and further considerations. In these lectures we shall try to summarize some of the most fundamental work that has been done in recent years, followed by some key publications.
