课程介绍

In this series of lectures we discuss several aspects of matrix theory,
numerical analysis and reliable computing. Particular topics are
-  new insights into computer arithmetic including linear estimates for several standard algorithms,
-  error bounds for standard tasks in numerical analysis by transformation into a perturbation of 1,
-  normwise, componentwise and structured condition numbers and sensitivity,
-  verified error bounds for special problems including linearized Galerkin equations,
-  principles of verification methods including linear and nonlinear systems and global optimization,
-  error bounds for extremely ill-conditioned problems,
-  fast algorithmic differentiation, computer algebra, computer demo and open problems.

授课人介绍

Siegfried Rump studied mathematics, physics and computer science at the University of Kaiserslautern, where he finished his Diploma thesis in 1977 on root separation of polynomials over algebraic extension fields of the real numbers. He received his Ph.D. in 1980 and Habilitation in 1983 at the University of Karlsruhe, from where he moved in 1983 to the IBM Research and Development Center in Böblingen. At the age of 31 he received a call as full professor and head of the Institute for Reliable Computing at the Technical University of Hamburg where he works since 1987. He was five times Visiting Professor at the Sorbonne University in Paris; and since 2002 he is Visiting Professor at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. He serves as editor in several international journals and published some 200 papers on matrix theory, verification methods and scientific computing.
