The presentation concerns the effective and reliable computation of PDE eigenvalue computation of a model Poisson problem with adaptive mesh-refining algorithms.

The reliable a posteriori error control of some finite element discretisation is reviewed on the black board from the literature even based on the Chapter in the finite element textbook of Strang and Fix. Newer a~posteriori error estimators and adaptive algorithms are discussed based on the PhD dissertations of J. Gedicke and D. Gallistl in recent years. The treatment of eigenvalue clusters and the localization of eigenvalues will be mentioned as well as the optimal convergence and possible optimal complexity.

主讲人简介:
Carsten Carstensen holds the Chair of Numerical Analysis at the Department of Mathematics at the Humboldt-Universit\"at zu Berlin (Germany) since 2004 with contributions to mathematical and numerical analysis for the theoretical foundation of discretisation schemes in computational sciences and engineering. His current interest cover adaptive-algorithms and nonstandard finite element methods with fundamental benefits like computable guaranteed lower eigenvalue or energy bounds for partial differential equations or variational inequalities. Carsten Carstensen has authored over 250 publications in peer-reviewed journals and edited a few proceeding books and special issues; he is the editor-in-chief of the journal Comput. Methods Appl. Math. He has supervised 20 PhD students and 5 habilitations plus more national and international postdocs, who have pursued careers in academia.
